June 2023 - Present
- Developed an industry leading broadcast experience for providing customers fun and interactive ways to view available products. Developed six major releases over the course of six quarters following extensive stakeholder feedback.
- Introduced cross-project standards and libraries for authentication and data syncing across distributed systems.
- Executed the majority of releases as well as led post-release support by answering more than 80% of the 120 support requests generated from releases.
- Designed and presented options to simplify 85% of the codebase using more generic, easily modifiable structures with reduced cyclomatic complexity.
- Developed an internal inventory management tool to allow the organization to automate internal processes beyond the capabilities of excel and provide integrations with other products
- Led the development team through 4 major releases as well as 75+ minor updates since the products launch in late May 2024 by responding to and handling 92% of the 180 support requests during and outside of business hours
- Created generic backend systems for converting JSON requests to C member expressions for rapid development of server-sided dashboard content.
- Created a basic data sync system to allow backend state to be immediately reflected in frontend displays and inputs as backend state changes.
- Created a generic frontend dashboard filter system that handles autocompletes, display overrides, multiple input filters, and displaying filters in plain English in order to allow our development team to decouple our UI from MUI Datagrid.
- Designed and implemented a system for storing, viewing, and calculating the edit history of a given entity and its children overtime.
- Created middleware to automate the enrichment of logs, operation identity tracking, and time normalization.
- Served as a team processes and technical lead as our development team doubled in size
- Established clear coding standards by codifying rules around 50 code quality issues commonly disputed in PRs.
- Established guidelines and expectations about the usage of agentic and AI assisted software development for the purpose of maintaining code quality.
- Identified and planned the workloads of 3 new developers to ensure a smooth integration over their first 3 months while maintaining team agility.
- After noticing 25% of our meeting time with our first new developer was spent clarifying domain language and internal processes, created a domain accelerator to get developers up to speed rapidly. This resulted in a 2 hour presentation that preemptively taught domain language to the next batch of incoming developers, testers, and development-adjacent management.
- Cataloged, grouped, and prioritized technical debt for approximately 75% of the active code base that predates codified quality standards.
- Developed an internal standard for planning, presenting and discussing technically intense features.
- Created a process management tool that had widgets to address recurring sprint issues.
- Developed a PR management tool to manage multiple ADO repositories coupled with our minimum reviewer and tagging policy given short-comings with ado repositories.
- Created a sprint metrics tool that automated end of sprint metric aggregation for:
- Effort Accuracy (of bugs and stories)
- Epic and feature level percent completions for the current sprint and compared to prior sprints
- Patch note creation and demo agenda creation
- A bug triaging tool to ensure proper prioritization and visual tagging of bugs
- Automated tree-based diagrams of roadmap dependency graphs
- Sprint creation tools that allow easy assignment based of fulfilled prerequisites and bug priority
- Led the organization's pivot from a monolithic C# application to a microservice architecture, owning service design standards, delivery pipelines, and architectural review for every offshoot
- Authored standards and boundaries for project organization to prevent re-litigating logging, security, execution, pipelines, and other commonly scrutinized areas of architecture.
- Built CI/CD pipeline templates to handle recurring problems such as versioning, documentation publishing, database migrations via ORM’s
- Executed a top-down refactor of company infrastructure, replacing manual configuration of elastic beanstalk with a reusable Terraform module library covering every deployment shape the organization ships with ECS
- Authored modules for fullstack applications, ECS backends, Lambda backends, and ECS tasks, each deployable to API gateways
- Wired Sentry and CloudWatch configuration into every module tier by default, making observability standard and default across services
- Genericized microservice documentation across task and API resources into a single packaged format consumed automatically by the internal engineering site, so every service is documented and discoverable at deploy time.
- Created platform maps to provide intuitive ways of visualizing microservice interactions
- Cut provisioning of a new production-ready service from 3-5 days to under 20 minutes
